Set to the sounds of 1960s and 70s Chicago soul and blues, Dove’s Luncheonette offers counter service morning, noon and night in the heart of Chicago’s Wicker Park.
Chef de Cuisine Tom Carlin’s inviting menu delivers Southern-inspired Mexican cuisine, alongside a tequila and mezcal-focused bar program, with the spirit of genuine hospitality. The 41-stool luncheonette takes its name from Nelson Algren’s A Walk on the Wild Side, and draws inspiration from bygone diners and watering holes to create a place where people from all walks of life can converge over a cup of coffee, cocktail, and a great meal.
Dove's Luncheonette offers counter style seating on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Journalist Emma Janzen (Digital Content Editor of Imbibe Magazine) will jump behind the bar at Tex-Mex neighborhood hot spot Dove’s Luncheonette in celebration of her 2018 James Beard Award nomination for her book Mezcal: The History, Craft, & Cocktails of the World’s Ultimate Artisanal Spirit. From 6pm-9pm, step into a little slice of Oaxaca as Janzen serves up specialty mezcal cocktails in collaboration with Dove’s Bar Manager Sam Carlton and The Violet Hour’s Eden Laurin. Guests can choose between a Dove’s House Barrel Banhez Reposado Old Fashioned with housemade mole bitters, a low-abv fermented pineapple beer (Tepache) and white wine mezcal drink, or the "Dove’s Bell", a rift from the "Division Bell” recipe from Janzen’s book made with mezcal, orange-infused Aperol, Luxardo Maraschino and Lime Oleo-saccharum ($10 each).
As mezcal is dear to both Janzen’s and the Dove’s team hearts, a portion of proceeds for all event cocktails sold that evening with go to benefit S.A.C.R.E.D., a not-for-profit that uses traditional and artisanal agave spirits from rural Mexico to help improve the quality of life in the communities where those spirits are made. In addition, Dove’s Chef de Cuisine Tom Carlin will be providing mezcal-friendly food specials and signed copies of Janzen’s book will be available for purchase.
